Audiobook speed!
This is actually a cool feature that was already on the iPod and that moved up to the iPhone. It seems like I had to get an iPhone to discover it! One of the things that can be annoying when listening to an audiobook is the speed. I sometimes like to hear the audiobook a little bit faster than normal, but if it is in a foreign language, I'd rather hear it much slower so that I can really understand everything. Well you can choose the speed that audiobooks will be read without even needing to sync your iPod/iPhone. That is really useful if you don't want the same speed setting from every audiobook.
On the iPhone:
1. Go to Settings and choose "iPod".
2. Choose "Audiobook speed".
3. Tap on the desired speed: "Slower", "Normal" or "Faster".
On the iPod:
1. On the iPod main menu, choose "Settings".
2. Choose "Audiobooks".
3. Choose the desired speed: "Slower", "Normal" or "Faster".
On the iPhone:
1. Go to Settings and choose "iPod".
2. Choose "Audiobook speed".

4 Comments:
What if the audiobook was ripped from a cd? how do you classify it as an audiobook file?
Get info on a selection of tracks in your library, select Options, and change Media Kind to Audiobook.
Better yet, use the Macintosh application "Audiobook Builder". Will allow you to join and split chapters, rename, associate cover art, and import/export to/from itunes (plus it supports ogg, flac, etc w/an easy download for quicktime) Have fun!
Where is the Auido book in settings? I do not see it on my Verizon iphone 4,
